  • 活動組敬邀所有家長和學生於一月二十二日下午四點於學生餐廳參觀課外活動秋季班成果展!扯鈴團隊、古箏學生、和武術學子都將現場表演,展現所學;國畫課、摺紙藝術、和東洋插花課精彩作品也將於學生餐廳入口處展示供大家欣賞。別忘了觀看書法組成員大筆揮毫,撰寫迎春納福的吉祥字,這些將免費贈送給大家快樂迎接新年!

  • 請為每個報名成員和課程分開開立支票。
  • 第一次上課才繳費者,學校將額外收費十五元遲交費。(延至十月二十三日)
  • 現任中文學校學生家庭成員,請於 ECS Online 報名,否則學校將另外收取每家二十五元註冊費。
  • 非現任中文學校學生家庭之成員,學校將收取每家二十五元註冊費。
  • 中文學校校外人等,學校除收取每家二十五元註冊費,學費加收百分之五十。

  • The details of the extra-curricular classes for this school year 2018-2019 will be announced shortly.
  • All ECS parents and students are cordially invited to the Fall end-of-term exhibit and performance this Sunday, 1/22 at 4:00pm in Chantilly High School Cafeteria. There will be performances from the Yo-yo students on one stage and KungFu/GuZheng on another. Artwork from the Chinese Painting, Origami and Floral Arrangement Classes will be displayed near the southern entrance. The Chinese Calligraphy school team will demonstrate their penmanship and give away their authentic work (i.e. “春”、”福”), just in time for the Chinese New Year and a year of good luck.(Exhibit and Performance Map)

  • Please make check payable to "ECS" and submit it to Extra-curricular Class Coordinator.
  • Please issue separate checks for each participant and class.
  • An additional $15 late fee required for payment received after the first class has started. (Waived until 10/23/2016)
  • For current ECS families, please register ECS Online to avoid a $25 per family registration fee.
  • A registration fee of $25 per family is required to register non-current-ECS families.
  • Families have no current or past tie to ECS pay 150% of Class fee in addition to a $25 per family registration fee.
  • The class may be cancelled due to lack of facility or participants after the registration deadline. The fee will be refunded or you may choose to register in another class. NVAECS has right to adjust the event due to school operational need, a change notice will be sent out to confirm. In the case ECS needs to adjust the class, ECS will do its best effort to notify the class as early as possible via the contact information provided in the application form. Please also refer to school Finance rules and regulation if you have any need.
  • Regardless of whether a student has reached the recommended age, if s/he does not have the necessary attention span or skills to participate in a class/club or is a significant distraction to others, parental involvement is required under instructor’s direction.

黄瑞蓮老師從 1983 年起,分別在華府中國文化中心,維華、希望和實驗中文學校開班授課。移居華府之前,曾任教於肯薩司大學美術系授教國畫多年,並取得美國的藝術學位。前後已有四十年教授國畫的豐富經驗。
Mrs. Monica Shia has been a Chinese Painting instructor since 1983 at various locations, including Washington DC Chinese Culture Center, Wei Hua, Hope Chinese Schools and ECS. Before moving to Washington DC area, she taught at the Art Department at Kansas University and received her degree in Arts. Overall, she has taught Chinese Painting for more than 40 years.

The Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe (FCDT) is a non-profit amateur group, dedicated to sharing art and culture and the promotion of cross-cultural understanding. Dancers consist of students of all ages from the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan area, and Delaware. Through the beautiful art of dance and body movement, dancers vividly portray the life and culture of different Chinese ethnic groups in China and Taiwan. www.FCDTdance.org

Instructor Profile:
Ms. Shallin Nesbit is an energetic and creative instructor with many years of experience teaching jewelry making class to student at both ECS and Fairfax County Public School after-school programs. Ms. Nesbit is also an ECS parent and a past member of ECS board.

Class Overview:
This introductory class covers all the fundamental jewelry making techniques. During the class, students will learn wire wrapping for earrings, bead stringing techniques for bracelets and necklaces. No experience required. All the necessary tools and supplies will be provided by the instructor.

Toast Master Youth Leadership Program (age 11+)

B-2 Toasters 誠意邀請您的孩子參加青少年領袖課程(Youth Leadership Program),這是一項為期八週一小時的課程針對十一歲或以上至十七歲或以下的青少年。並且是首次在北維州實驗中文學校推出,由數位資深領袖協助舉辦。
Your child(ren) is/are cordially invited by B-2 Toasters, a sponsoring toastmasters club of Toastmasters International, to join and participate in a Youth Leadership Program, an 8-week workshop. This is the first time this program has been available at the Northern Virginia Experimental Chinese School (NVAECS). It is open to all teenagers between 11 and 17 years old. In addition, it is coordinated and led by some experienced Toastmasters.
The Youth Leadership Program is a workshop consisting of eight one- to two-hour sessions that enable young people under the age of 18 to develop their communication and leadership skills through practical experience. The program is presented during or after school, or on weekends. In the workshop, young people learn valuable skills including.
  • Evaluating their own speaking ability
  • Preparing and giving speeches
  • Giving impromptu talks
  • Controlling their voice, vocabulary and gestures

陳怡伶老師,目前擔任北維實驗中文學校,文化課指導老師。連續四年,指導高二班布袋戲競賽。陳老師個人喜愛布袋戲文化,每回台灣,必定會觀賞布袋戲演出,參與研習課程. 在2018夏天,更親訪國寶級布袋戲大師,陳錫煌。陳老師期望傳承布袋戲文化,讓海外華人子弟以及外國友人能了解中國文化動感的一面。
Ms. Christine Chen is our culture class teacher at ECS. She has been leading our high school glove puppet competition team for four years. Ms. Chen has a profoundness for glove puppets. She participates in glove puppet workshops and exhibits whenever she is in Taiwan to learn the latest techniques and trends in the subject. Her mission is to share this unique culture with as many as possible.

黎秀桂老師自幼學習書法,高中時為書法校隊代表。赴美後從事藝術空間設計工作並在實驗中文學校擔任文化課的書法老師多年,目前是本校扯鈴團隊負責人及書法校隊指導老師,本校書法校隊在黎老師的指導下年年獲獎。本於對藝術及文創志業慹忱,黎老師希望藉由東方書法推廣中文文字之美,經由親子學習培育藝文興趣並永續傳承。
Ms. Li has been studying Chinese Calligraphy since her youth and was on her high school Calligraphy team. Since moving to the US, she works in the Art Design industry and has been the Calligraphy instructor for ECS's culture class for many years. Currently, she is the instructor of the ECS Calligraphy school team, as well as the Chinese yoyo coordinator. Under Ms. Li's tutelage, the ECS Calligraphy school team has earned the top awards consistently every year. Ms. Li hopes to promote the beauty of Chinese Language Art through Chinese Calligraphy and the interest through parent-and-child learning together, hence, to ensure its continuity.

Ms. Mimi Wang enjoys Zumba since 2011 and is a certified Zumba instructor at Ashburn Pavilion Fitness Center. She believes Zumba is a big party that brings people together to laugh, to dance and to enjoy themselves while burning calories.

黄瑞蓮老師是華道家元池坊流,生花、投入、盛花教授。在美留學時期,曾在大花店做花型設計師多年,是位傑出的花型設計師。曾在維華中文學校,開班教課多年,中西二型插花經驗豐富。
Mrs. Monica Shia was trained in the Ikenobo school of Japanese floral arts. She is a teacher in the styles of Ikebana, Nageire and Moribana. During her study in the U.S., she worked in a large floral store as a floral designer for many years and is an excellent floral designer. She taught floral arrangements at Wei Hua Chinese School for several years and is experienced in both Oriental and Western floral arrangements.
