Notes
- Please make check payable to “ECS” and submit it to Extra-curricular Class Coordinator. Please issue separate checks for each participant and class.
- An additional $15 late fee required for payment received after the first class has started.
- For current ECS families, please register Parent Portal to avoid a $25 per family registration fee.
- The class may be cancelled due to lack of facility or participants after the registration deadline.
- The fee will be refunded or you may choose to register in another class. NVAECS has right to adjust the event due to school operational need, a change notice will be sent out to confirm. In the case ECS needs to adjust the class, ECS will do its best effort to notify the class as early as possible via the contact information provided in the application form. Please also refer to school Finance rules and regulation if you have any need.
- Regardless of whether a student has reached the recommended age, if s/he does not have the necessary attention span or skills to participate in a class/club or is a significant distraction to others, parental involvement is required under instructor’s direction.

Chinese Painting (age 8+)

Chinese Painting Paper, Chinese Painting Brushes (1 large & 1 small), Ink, Ink Dish, Black Cloth
Mrs. Monica Shia has been a Chinese Painting instructor since 1983 at various locations, including Washington DC Chinese Culture Center, Wei Hua, Hope Chinese Schools and ECS. Before moving to Washington DC area, she taught at the Art Department at Kansas University and received her degree in Arts. Overall, she has taught Chinese Painting for more than 40 years.
Chinese Calligraphy

Equipment Required:
Chinese calligraphy brush, container to hold ink, ink, felt pad, and Chinese calligraphy grid practice paper (there are competition regulations on the paper, which must be 12 cells with a nine-square grid within each, and each cell is about 3 inches or 8 centimeters). Chinese calligraphy brush, inkstone, ink, flannel pad, nine-square calligraphy practice paper (the paper has competition regulations, it must be a 12-grid nine-square grid, and one grid is 3 inches or 8 cm).
