Listening:
Can understand and follow the teacher’s instructions
Can understand questions from the teacher and others, as well as classmates’ responses
Can understand a short spoken passage or description of an event
Speaking:
Can respond to the teacher’s questions using complete sentences
Can engage in polite conversations with others
Can describe a simple scene or object in a clear and coherent paragraph after observing pictures or real-life items
Reading:
Can accurately recognize and read Hanyu Pinyin, including compound finals and tones (four tones and the neutral tone)
Can read aloud the lesson texts and understand their meaning
Writing:
Can write Pinyin when given Chinese characters and write Chinese characters when given Pinyin
Can form words and sentences using learned characters (using Pinyin for unfamiliar characters)
