Class Description
This course is designed for students with at least 2-3 years of exposure to Chinese. Multiple topics in real life will be introduced in this course. Students will use common expressions to discuss and exchange information for various topics, such as occupation, leisure activities, vacation and travel plans, etc. The class will introduce more culture related subject including Lunar calendar, Taiwan Tea and Appellations. Students will learn to function in real-life situations using advanced and commonly used vocabulary, complex sentences, and language structures.
Students will have frequent teacher and peer interactions throughout this 12-class session. This course provides students with substantial opportunities for oral presentations. Students will practice frequently to communicate in Chinese with each other. This will be a highly interactive and engaging language class, and it will be fun, too!
Teacher’s Biography
Ms. Sheng is an accomplished educator with a rich background in teaching language and culture across diverse academic institutions including Montgomery College, Northern Virginia Experimental Chinese School and Kuang-Chi Chinese School for over 10 years.
Her teaching style is student-centered learning. It revolves around using real-life situations and sentence patterns to focus on speaking skills. She will ensure lots of practice through the small group discussions and to make sure everyone is making progress in the Chinese learning journey. Also the class will incorporate numerous Taiwanese-related elements to deepen your understanding of Chinese culture.
