Among Chinese schools that teach traditional Chinese characters in the DC metro area, NVAECS has one of the highest number of students, around 250 enrolled for the school year 2024-2025. We teach either zhuyin or pinyin phonetic systems at different age levels. The textbook series is MeiZhou Chinese, which structures lessons according to the common experiences of students in the United States; and has different levels that range from elementary all the way to high school.

Cultural Classes
Students explore Chinese culture through hands-on activities like calligraphy, and traditional puppet show, deepening their appreciation beyond the language. By integrating cultural learning, we help students develop a richer, more meaningful connection to the Chinese heritage and global community.
Adult Classes
Parents who are not native speakers of Chinese are welcome to make full use of their child’s class time, learn Chinese together, and grow how to use Chinese in your daily life.
