Parent Portal
- I clicked “Forgot Password” to request a temporary password but I never receive any email. What should I do?
Check your spam folder. You should receive an email within two minutes after submitting the request. There is high chance that the email ended up in your spam folder. - My spouse and I have completed some service work for school. Would our points be added together?
Yes. The service point system is based on the family. The service point earned from each member (husband, wife, guardian, etc.) of the same family will be added together, which becomes the service point balance. If you log in to Parent Portal, you can find your service point balance in the Service Point Report. - Is it OK if I cannot read Chinese?
The user interface of Parent Portal is designed in English. The only three fields in the forms that require Chinese are: “Student Chinese Name”, “Family Member (Mother, Father or Guardian) Chinese Name”, “Emergency Contact Chinese Name”. There fields are not required and can be leave blank. All other fields accept both English and Chinese. Parent Portal can be accessed using any tablet or mobile devices, such as iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Nexus 7, etc. You can enter Chinese with its handwriting input method. - My Service Point Report lists the services I have completed for the current school year. Why does it not get reflected as a refund item in the registration page?
It is likely that your personal profile has duplicate record in the database. Please submit a trouble ticket to resolve your issue. - Can I change the user name or the email address that I use to log into Parent Portal?
Currently you cannot change your user name or email address on Parent Portal. Please submit a trouble ticket to request support from the IT staff.
Service Point System
- I only need 5 service points for each academic year and I have completed 7 service points. Can I pass the additional 2 points to the next school year?
No. At the beginning of the school year, the fulfilled service points from the prior school year will be reset to 0. The additional service points from the prior school year cannot be passed on to the new school year. We appreciate your extra effort to make ECS a better learning environment for our children. Before the end of the school year, we will recognize the parents who has completed more service points than they need to.
Student Registration
- I have a 6-year-old son enrolled in the Chinese school. Now I would like to enroll my 3-year-old daughter for the next school year. Do I need to wait until the New Student Registration Period starts? Or can I enroll both my kids together?
If the new student has a sibling studying in ECS, he/she can enroll with his/her sibling during the Current Student Registration period (5/1-5/31) and does not need to wait till the New Student Registration period (from 6/1) starts. - My son will quit Chinese school after the fall semester is over. Can I get refund for the spring semester tuition?
The tuition from the initial student registration is for the entire school year, including both the fall and spring semesters. After the first four classes in the fall semester, the tuition will not be refunded. Please refer to the Return Policy on the registration page for more details.
Family ID
- What is the purpose of Family ID on Parent Portal?
The service point calculation is based on individual family, which can have multiple accounts (parents, grandparents, guardian, etc.). The Family ID ensures that all service points from different members that are associated to the same family are accounted for. - What is the Family ID used for?
Examples of when a Family ID is used are: academic events, such as vocabulary contest judge meeting, or school activities, such as the Chinese New Year Festival. - How can I find my Family ID?
Please log in to Parent Portal and your Family ID will be displayed below the welcome message on the main page.
Finance
- Can I include Chinese school tuition for the Dependent Care FSA (Flexible Spending Account)?
No. Chinese school tuition does not qualify for Dependent Care FSA, which is mostly for the expense from day care, after school care or summer camp.
Academic
- Does ECS have adult Chinese class?
Yes. The Adult Chinese class started in 2019-2020 school year.
Publication
- Why did I not receive the Weekly Announcement email from the school?
ECS generally sends out Weekly Announcement (WA) each Thursday during the school year. If you do not see it in your Inbox, please check your Spam Folder. Please submit a trouble ticket to resolve your issue.
