About Us

Our Vision is to apply non-traditional educational methods to supplement classroom teaching, such as cultural, social, sports and other extra-curricular activities.

Our Mission is to promote the awareness of cultural diversity and harmony to the students and community.

The Northern Virginia Experimental Chinese School (NVAECS) was founded in 1991 by a group of parents and is a non-profit organization officially registered with the State of Virginia. With over 350 students, 26 teachers, and a school board comprised of parent volunteers, we are one of the largest Chinese schools in Northern Virginia. Our mission is to provide Chinese language and cultural education to our students thereby promoting increased Chinese cultural awareness throughout the greater community in which we live. Classes are held at Chantilly High School, 4201 Stringfellow Road, Chantilly, VA 20151 from 2-4 pm on Sundays.

NVAECS enrolls students age three and up, placed among 13 levels/grades according to each student’s age and ability with classes available using either zhuyin or pinyin to teach Mandarin Chinese. In keeping with our vision, we apply non-traditional educational methods to supplement classroom teaching, including cultural classes, family social events, sports and other extra-curricular activities, and most importantly dragon boat racing. This approach increases the opportunities for students and parents to communicate with each other, deepen understanding, and increase the effectiveness of what is taught in the classroom.
