Dragon Boat Warriors Wanted! IMPORTANT
The Washington DC Dragon Boat Festival will be held on Saturday, 16 May 2026. ECS has entered two boats into the competition, Youth (12-17 years old) and Adult. Come and join us at this exciting cultural event! Please fill in this form to sign up (separate sign up for each paddler). If you have any questions, please contact Roger Chen .
● We need both male and female paddlers in each boat.
● No experience is required.
● ECS will provide lunch for each paddler on the day of the race.
● Adult team members will receive up to 5 service points, 1 point for each practice, 3 points for race day. Service points will be applied to the 2026-2027 school year.
● Practice Times and Location: 19 and 26 April 2026 1030-1200 at Anacostia Community Boathouse (ACBA), 1900 M Street SE, Washington, DC 20003

Current Students’ Applications for Skipping Grade or Switching between Pinyin and Zhuyin Class IMPORTANT
For current students who would like to make any changes in grade level or Pinyin – Zhuyin class, please email the application to Academics by 5/17 with your teacher’s signature. Parents of students intending to apply for grade-skipping should carefully review ECS grade-skipping application regulations. Applicants must pass the preliminary eligibility screening and the placement test held in August. Please contact Academics for further information.

5/3 Vocabulary Contest IMPORTANT
To raise students’ ability to recognize and apply Chinese vocabulary, ECS requires all students to take a vocabulary contest. 2026 ECS vocabulary contest will be held on May 3rd. Contest result is to be used as grade level promotion guideline. We recommend students to start practice early and practice regularly. If students can not participate on May 4th, please apply for an early test on 4/26 by 4/19 .
5/3 Vocabulary Contest Volunteers Needed IMPORTANT
We still need volunteers to step up for the vocabulary contest on 5/4! Participating in both the 4/26 judge meeting and 5/3 contest day will allow you to earn two service points. A good start for the next school year (2026-2027 year) ! Please contact Academics to sign up.

ECS is hiring Chinese teachers and Substitute teachers for the next school year. Teachers will be compensated with hourly wages and enjoy a tuition waiver for one student in the household. If interested, please contact Academics or stop by the Office to inquire.
