  1. ECS Stars Competition Team won big at Chinese Karaoke Film contest! NEW

The 2018 Chinese Karaoke Film Contest award ceremony was held last Saturday on May 12th. ECS Stars team took home a ton of prizes, including the top 3 prizes in high school/college team and the most popular award. Congratulations to the ECS talented and hard-working students!

 

  1. ECS Team again triumph at WMACS Chinese Vocabulary Contest! NEW

The Fourth WMACS Chinese Vocabulary Contest was held last Saturday 5/12. Under Teacher Peikai Wang’s leadership, the ECS team again triumphed at the event. They won Second place in the elementary level, as well as First and Second Place in the middle school level. ECS students were calm and confident; their outstanding performances had again brought great honor for ECS! Thanks to all the support from parents, and the teaching from Teacher Wang. Let’s applaud and celebrate their great achievement! Go ECS!

  1. WANTED – Chinese Teachers for the Next School Year
    ECS is looking for Pinyin and Zhuying teachers for the next school year. The teachers will be compensated with hourly wages (base $20 plus the seniority increase) and enjoy the tuition waiver of one student in the household. You will also receive teacher training for professional and personal development. If interested, please     email Academics or stop by the Office.

  1. Recruiting new School Board/Staff Member Team NEW
    We are forming the team for next year and several board/staff member positions will be open. This is a great opportunity to serve our ECS community. The coming up positions include: Deputy Academic (1) and IT (1). The benefits for board members and staff include tuition cut (one child’s tuition waived) and service points requirement waived.

  1. Dragon Boat Race postponed to 6/16, 6/17 NEW

The Washington DC Dragon Boat Festival sponsored by the Taiwan-U.S. Culture Association (TUSCA) was originally scheduled on this weekend 5/19, 5/20. Due to the extra rain and high flow rates on the river, TUSCA has decided that for safety reasons, the festival to be postponed to 6/16, 6/17. All ECS parents and students are welcome to go and cheer for our team!

  1. OCAC Program for oversea youth to study in Taiwan NEW

Would you like your child to learn more about Taiwan’s culture and customs? Do you want them to have the opportunity to study in Taiwan for short term? Taiwan Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) is hosting a program that will allow overseas children age 6-15 to study in elementary and middle schools in Taiwan from 2018/9/1-2019/6/30. Parents who are interested, please contact Ms. Lin at TECRO Culture Center (301-869-8585, EXT 117) between 5/26-6/10.
